Diverse hiring practices

We’re committed to building a recruitment process that reduces bias and creates more equal opportunities.

Highlighting support for reasonable adjustments early in the interview process

We want candidates to feel comfortable requesting adjustments that help them perform at their best – so we let them know this right at the start.

Using cross-functional interview panels

By involving a diverse mix of team members from different disciplines, we try to challenge any biases and ensure a more balanced hiring process. This also gives candidates a more accurate feel for what it’s like to work at Made Tech – collaborative, multidisciplinary and inclusive.

Mentorship

Mentorship is central to our culture at Made Tech, encouraging knowledge sharing and growth. Our current mentoring program focuses on 4 key areas:

  • Skill development
  • Leadership support
  • Career growth
  • Mentor training

Increasing representation for women in tech

We continue to focus on increasing women’s representation in tech. While there’s still more to do, we’re improving our approach through:

  • Cross-functional panels to improve diversity in interview and promotion processes
  • Candidate surveys to identify barriers for underrepresented groups
  • Targeted outreach to recruit more women, particularly in senior cloud and engineering roles
  • Diversity-focused contractor hiring through a third-party resourcer aiming for a 50/50 gender balance
  • Gender decoder software to ensure job ads are inclusive and free from gender bias

Partnering for change

Through a company-wide vote, we selected Tech She Can as our charity of the year, supporting their mission to close the gender gap. We run an 8-week mentoring program with Teach Her, providing direct support for women in the industry. We also partner with organisations like Coding Black Females, and WomenHack, offering sponsorships talks and grassroots initiatives to promote diversity in software engineering.
