Made Tech has been awarded a contract by the Youth Justice Board (YJB) to design and deliver a new digital Youth Justice Platform to support the modernisation of youth justice services across England and Wales.

The Youth Justice Board is a non-departmental public body responsible for overseeing the youth justice system, providing evidence-based advice and leadership to improve outcomes for children and young people while maintaining public safety.

Modernising a critical system

The programme will replace their current legacy system, the Youth Justice Application Framework.

The new platform will provide a robust digital foundation for community youth justice services and custodial staff to assess, manage, and support children more effectively. Designed with a child-first approach, the platform will prioritise better outcomes for children and young people while improving efficiency for practitioners.

A child-first, end-to-end view of a child’s journey

The Youth Justice Platform will:

  • Provide a single, unified record for all information relating to a child
  • Enable secure and effective information sharing between professionals who need it, when they need it
  • Capture each child’s engagement as a single, continuous journey through the youth justice system
  • Improve efficiency across service delivery
  • Reduce administrative burden for frontline staff

By bringing together fragmented data and processes into a single system, the platform will support more informed decision-making and enable professionals to spend more time on direct work with children.

Proven expertise across justice and public services

The Youth Justice Board selected Made Tech for its strong track record in delivering complex, user-centred digital services across the justice system. Made Tech’s approach focuses on reusing existing services where appropriate, accelerating delivery while reducing risk and ensuring solutions can be successfully taken into live operation.

This work builds on Made Tech’s experience delivering digital transformation programmes for organisations, including HM Prisons & Probation Service and the Legal Aid Agency.

This programme is a significant step forward for the youth justice system. A modern, child-first digital platform will enable better information sharing, reduce administrative burden, and ultimately support professionals to make more informed decisions that improve outcomes for children and young people. We’re proud to be working with the Youth Justice Board on such an important transformation.”
